Visited a NC Campground this past holiday, [COLOR=]4th of July!!This particular campground had quite a few Seasonal / rigs that are left year round. Three quarter of them had rv-carports, setups over the RV’s. Several with porches, living space under the shelter, etc…Couple of thoughts/questions It is unfortunate that an RV can’t take the weather.Does this seem like camping?This particular campground is part of a Boat Mariana and Lake Access. Many to most of the RV’s are boaters, probably just need area to sleep and access after being on the lake. Markiemark

I guess there are different levels of camping. Some purists would say staying in anything other than a tent is not camping.On one end of the scale is the person that rolls out a sleeping bag under the stars on the opposite end of the scale are the million dollar plus Motorhomes in a luxury RV Resort. Look at Camp David, even presidents get to go "camping".I felt we stopped camping once we switched from a tent to a camper and then to RV's. We are RV'ing...

Sure it is.the best thing about this hobby is the diversity in how/where we do it and the gear we use. No one is right or wrong as long as they have fun doing it their way.

It's the least expensive "cottage at the lake". If it's a good fishing lake, I wouldn't mind having a space with roof and hookups myself. I wouldn't leave anything out there,....don't want to worry about anything happening to motorhome and the boat. I prefer to drive the motorhome (pulling the boat) and for my wife to drive the 4x4 GMC Envoy.It's not really camping.

My folks leave their RV in the New Mexico mountains at an RV park and spend summers there. Not sure whether it is camping or not but they sure enjoy the area and getting away from the North Texas heat. BTW, I built them a deck for the trailer to make it easier for them to access the trailer.

Yep.. Sure is..

There can be many reasons behind what they do..

Up here it's taxes.. Up here in alot of counties (yes we have them to), the property taxes definitiion of permanent structure = living quarters. And once a "permanent structure (ie living quarters)" is on your land, the property taxes are thousands of dollars vs a couple hundred for an RV with carport. Silly, but I know what i would do. Not to mention the protection from the elements..

Up here our season is very short (2-3 months), and using an enclosed "car port" around the trailer, lengthens the season.
