Is this Site Declining and losing Members?

Participation is most definitely down the last couple of years. New members get scared away by the put downs. Any type of towing question will be followed by get a bigger truck. One member in particular loves to jump into threads immediately with do a search on 'xxx' or do a google search on 'yyy'. People already know how to search and don't need to be treated like new internet users. I'm sure this is insulting to younger folks who simply would like a question answered without being made to feel inferior.
