The problem with posts like this, is if the preponderance of folks who reply say there's a problem, then the conclusion is, there is a problem. Even though the sample size of people who responded to this thread, when compared to the thousands of members, represents a mere microcosm of the population.
I agree with the assertion that the only way to determine if participation is on a decline is through the use of the metrics and stats that only the site owners have access to. Any other assertion is speculation, based on a super small sample size.
There is always room for improvement. The question is, does the owner of the website see the value in making the improvements? If they are happy and satisfied with the amount of traffic and participation, there is no incentive to do any improvements. I suspect that is the most likely case. At the end of the day, Im guessing the return on investment for GS to run this website is not that great, hence no reason to invest more in it.
