Your comment made me think. If the site is loosing membership and / or participation, I am sure the "owners" would take notice of that and see these forums as a loosing proposition, and probably shut down. But the fact the site remains open and active tells me the "owners" see value in it.
As Mr. Marcus Lemonis responded to one of my posts a couple years ago, I understood his response to say he uses these forums to monitor what's good and what's bad in the RV industry. Thus the reason to allow a certain amount of criticism and complaints as well as more pleasant things. What better way to get feed back but from a bunch of folks turned loose on a forum with specific rules, mainly #1 being, stick to ONLY the subject of Recreational Camping and associated activity. Really, a smart way to monitor the pulse of your target purchasing audience! Very smart when you think about it.
I think, (and MY OPINION ONLY) ... when this forum is no longer a useful tool for the GoodSam industry, THEN it will be shut down. Meanwhile we are allowed to raise our voices regarding their primary target audience for making money! .... Recreational Camping and everything associated!
No, the forum is not dying, I think it's a tool Good Sam is using to gather data on the best moves for the "organization" to move forward as a profitable business and WE are the target purchasing audience. Very smart when you think about it!
Perceptive, on target and 100% correct.
I have made this argument many times. The customers of GSE and CW pay for this forum with their purchases, we have a stakeholder interest. Now that does not allow us to manage it, but it should allow us a seat at the table on issues that affect the site.
This site serves the purposes and best interests of GSE for sure.
As for the issue of the sites alleged decline. I don't think we as members have access to the information needed to decide that for certain. However I do put some confidence in the consensus of so many that agree on one thing on this site being how rare that is in itself.
