Despite the thread I posted earlier, I disagree that this site is declining. I usually learn something when I read it - like the thing about the google search. I also don't see any ads because I learned from this site how to block them. I like the format of this site - simple and not a lot of frilly buttons and graphics - other forums are sometimes just hard to read.
I also learned how to post pictures. I sometimes make fun of the rude posters on here when they get out of control - one guy you can bait all day long just by saying that using a maceration pump is too much hassle. Another must have an alert on posts that contain the word slide-out supports - one mention of them, and he's on here telling you about your experience level vs. his. One time, I had a multiple page thread going about rinsing your tanks at the dump station. This other guy joined me and we piled it on - people were furious! We then sent congratulatory PM's to each other - I haven't laughed so hard for a while. It was like lighting a fart with a match.
I don't really care if my comments sometimes get moderated on some of the topics. It's not going to ruin my life. When I log off this site, I really don't think about it until I log back on. I could care less about moderation by membership - sure put that in place, and everything gets moderated out. Then you could post about the site declining. But since I disagree with you, I could delete your post - right?
There are plenty of attack dogs on here already. No need to muster a militia to "get back" at them. You can do that by blocking them. But gee, that just doesn't work cause you just gotta know what they said when you see the blocked post in a thread - right?
Notice the lack of any moderators on this thread - must be in their private moderator thread just yucking it up over the latest incarnation of "This site is in Decline" thread.
What it comes down to for me is that when I have a question, I usually get several great answers. When I don't, I try to pay it back from knowledge gained. Other times, I participate in the banter - and sure, can get a little opinionated myself. If you have something nasty to say, to me, it doesn't ruffle my feathers - to me your just some bozo behind a keyboard who wouldn't get caught dead talking to people like that in real life.
Get over it. Figure out how to live with the site as it is because this thread isn't going to change anything. Forum software and server space are real cheap these days. You could get your own RV forum up and running in days and make it just as you like it - then see how you feel when people start telling you how cr@ppy it is. I've considered it, but why compete with it? This site is fine by me. Your playing in Camping World's sandbox - their sandbox, their rules.
