At least the mods are letting this one run - so we should keep it civil and discuss this with some kind of reasonable tone.
In addition: Regardless of who votes how and why, the Obama plan will not work as written. No way, no how, and not practical - look at the mess already when citizens tried to sign up or enroll, let alone figure out the funding for it.
Enough said here.
We have a perfectly functional health care system in place right now. Medicare, and a perfectly well functioning accounting system for it, and every single person in this country are already enrolled (under 65 pay in, over 65 use it). No reason the health care premiums the workers and employers pay now can't support a national health care system that will become self-funding of we program it correctly.
Think of the amount each person and every employer pay RIGHT NOW for health care coverage. If we put that into a national system, and remove the enormous expense and overhead of the HMO's (don't get me started here) we'll all have health coverage instead of building and maintaining nationwide HMOs that produce paperwork instead of health care - AND, we wouldn't be in this shutdown mess.
