We should have posted this weeks ago, but ...been very busy and it "slipped" my mind (CRS)! We were on our way home from Mesa, Az., after having our roof replaced. We were following a "brand new" 5th wheel ( a couple on their maiden voyage), and observed that the trailer was "not" tracking true. You couldn't read the name down the side....but it was bad. We waved them over, and explained what we were seeing. They were "totally" unaware! Sooo.... maybe we all should have someone follow us while we tow, to be certain we do not have a similar issue!

Look in the mirrors. That should tell most discerning people what they need to know.

On a flat, smoothly paved street drive through some water, enough to thoroughly wet all the tires and see what sort of a wet pattern they leave. It should be just a 2 track for the TV and a second 2 track for the trailer {although sometimes they match up}. If you can see more than a two track from the trailer something is definitely wrong.:C

Sounds like they never looked in their mirrors.Of course, it is also just as likely that they did look in their mirrors and didn't think anything was wrong.

Sometimes our TT looks like it's not tracking perfectly. Other times it does. Tires are wearing normally so I don't give it any thought. Might be the crown in the road.

And all your goimg to do is adjust the mirrors to compensate for any uneven tracking. Like I said requires another vehicle following behind in most cases.

Especially with the right-side (objects may be closer than they appear) mirror! They don’t give you a really good comparison!

I think they meant side mirrors. You should be able to visualize a difference comparing the view from the right side mirror relative to the view of the left side mirror.

Doubt it. Even with side mirrors the average person is likely not going to notice.

When I got my last truck, it seemed as all my trailers started pulling to one side. More investigation... The trailers were fine, it was the truck that didn't track straight!

A lot of people are "unaware". Newbies especially do not have the experience behind them to understand what should be correct in a lot of issues. I have a brother in law who can barely change his own light bulbs so I think there are a bunch of good folks out there who enjoy RVing who are not mechanically minded.....so how would they know what is proper tracking?
Having someone follow you one time for a short pull to check it out is a good idea even if you think you can see your rig in your mirrors and how well it tracks.

Keep in mind that on a crowned road the trailer will always track slightly to the shoulder, on a straight flat interstate should track straight.
