It surprises me that so many find a modern day hobo distasteful. Early morning in a crowded misty camp ground evokes visions of a 21st century Great Depression camp, at least to me.

- Pangaea_RonExplorerIn 1969 I had a chance to meet Gary Snyder, who was one of the fire lookout poets in the North Cascades, as was Jack Kerouac. It was an truly interesting evening.
A couple of years ago the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center in North Cascades NP held a workshop on their history, and the poetry that they created.
I have held a fondness for fire lookouts in the North Cascades, and have helped to open and close them for the "fire" season. Spending that much time in that isolated situation, you would need to really like yourself or be philosophical about it. - darsbenExplorer II
