Jeep tow w/Blue Ox Towbar

Never should have to beat the pins out. Here is how to do it

If the pins are tight, have the DW get in the vehicle and start the motor. Have her put foot on brake and then put it in forward gear. Try to remove pins. If that doesn't work, have her put it in reverse and try again. If that doesn't work, put vehicle in neutral and then slowly turn the steering wheel to one side. You should see the tow bar relax. If not, turn the wheel slowly in the other direction. You might have to use a combination of turning the wheel and forward/backward at first until you get the hang of it.

Been doing it this way for 14 years and over 160,000 miles towing and have never had to beat the pins out

Pull the Jeep up, apply the parking brake, and pull the pins. You should never have to beat them out. If you do you're doing something wrong....

Say what?....and on occasion when this happens (Not much at all with my READYBRUTE)if you'll just open the locks and then ease the toad forward and inch, your pins should then be free and loose. Something like this should only possibly happen when in a tight corner and up or down slope a bit, otherwise, freeing the locks in itself should free them up and enough for removal.

I never have that problem with my fixed arm towbar. I just set the brake on the Jeep, and lift the hitch off the ball! then, If I wish to remove the bar from the Jeep, the two pins in the bumper brackets just slip right out.
No fuss, no muss, just quick and easy.

Did you release the pressure on the pistons by pushing the levers in on both pistons? If the pins are still tight, then move the Jeep up a little as suggested above.

After parking the MH move the Jeep up just a little to allow a little slack in the connections.
