Jockeying at house without WDH bars

I can't pull my trailer out of it's spot with the bars on. I need the rear of the trailer to be raised (front low) to pull onto the street. Then I go around the block like that so I can have the trailer in front of the house with the door to the lawn. Been doing this for years. I also take them off before putting the trailer away for the same reason.

WD is to restore weight to the front axle to help steering control at high speeds. How fast will you be jockeying around?

Just think of how everyone gives advice on how to weigh your combo to determine the tongue weight: one of the passes should be with trailer hooked to TV without WD bars. Should be no issue at all just jockeying it around.

Use the WD head and shank, just remove the spring bars. It won't bend.

The receiver on the truck shouldn't bend either. If it does, there was something very very wrong, and you are very very lucky that you found this out at home rather than on the road.

goducks10, mine slopes down towards the back. I've considered building up a pad for the tires for the purpose of hitching up. Probably will.

It says it is rated for about 5-600 pounds without WDH and 1000-1200 with WDH.

My tongue is about 750-800 pounds.

I was concerned with bending the hitch without WDH. I bent a much smaller hitch (the part the ball bolts to) with a smaller trailer.

I suppose I could do it and if I bend it I'm only out $50-$100 for that part..

BTW, with my hilly and gravel drive, I do normally get a bit of slipping.

I used to do it when we had a TT. The spot by my house is slopped upward. With the TT level the back of the TT would drag on the ground. I left the WD off so the truck would sag causing the rear of the TT to raise up allowing me more clearance.

I used to move my 28 ft TT around my property with my 4 cy Toyota P/Up, no problem other than the TOY squatted down a lot. Also moved my utility trailers
around the property with my riding lawn mower
