My ex received a jury duty notice a few months after our divorce and she moved out of state. I called the court clerk and told her the news. She said "the judge will have her arrested for failure to appear". I told her that she obviously didn't listen to me and that my ex was no longer a legal resident of the county and the judge didn't have the authority to arrest anyone in another state for not appearing. She hung up on me, but that was the end of it. They do try to throw their weight around, but if you have a legitimate excuse you should be ok and being several hundred miles away seems reasonable. I would notify them however.
