Just a day in a life...

I’m at home and wanted to fill my gas tank and propane tank just incase, so I drove out of my way to the nearest Flying J to do both. (not really that far but too far just for gas) I pull up to the propane fill station and call the store for assistance. They tell me they are out of propane. Great. So now I pull up to the closest RV lane to fill up with gas and in this case the main pump is on the right and a satellite unit on the left. I get things all setup to pump and the satellite pump doesn’t work. I go inside to get some help and they tell me the satellite pump doesn’t work ( I knew this ) and I’ll have to go to the other side. Fine, so I go back and cancel the transaction and start to move to the other side. Wouldn’t you know a couple drives up in a car and parks in the RV lane I need and proceed to go inside and don’t even begin to fill their tank! So now I pull into one of the open car lanes ( I had several to choose from ) and fill my tank. At the end, I could have just gone to my local overpriced gas station.

  • Unfortunately, things like that happen everywhere. Personally, I don't use Flying J, get my propane filled up at my nearest RV dealership or Tractor Supply Company if they are not open, and get my diesel at normal auto gas stations, even towing my 40 foot 5er.

And yes, many, many times I've had a gasoline operated vehicle pull into the only bay that had diesel ahead of me, even while trying to manuver trailer into the spot. Then they jump out and run inside and I'm now in a situation I can't go forward and I can't go backwards and just have to wait.

Sometimes, I've even seen them beet me to the pump (and there were other open bays), jump out, run inside, take 15 minutes, come out and leave, never getting fuel.

    It's only getting worse too.
