That experience matches mine and I'm in So Cal. Might be a regional thing.
Only thing I have ever been asked is what Im using it for, when filling non=opd tanks weed burners and branding irons! Never have had them look at the date I know they are at least 25 years old. Stored under cover they look almost new.
