Just for fun

FWIW I'm giving serious thought to dragging our TT the 90 miles up to Portland for the Rose Festival Parade this year. Should look spectacular in the parking lot next to the strip clubs at 4th & Burnside where we watch the parade every year. :D

I've owned toys all my life. When you own a motorcycle, you hit the road just for the fun of the ride. The same for a street rod, airplane, and boat. With a motorhome, yes I enjoy driving a big diesel pusher a lot, but because it's self-contained (for living in it) it's better to also have destination. Gotta justify owning it, somehow.

On occasion... few months ago took it out on our Saturday shopping day. Seemed fitting to eat dinner at the Barrell. Been to snowy and icy lately.

You bet! We often go out "for fun"! Nothing like having your own rest room and kitchen anywhere you go, or a comfy place to sit and read while the DW shops. And - we can always have the dog with us, even if we have to fire up the genny for A/C or heat. My 94 year old Father in Law loves to tour the Cape Cod villages, harbors, and beaches of his childhood from the comfort of the front captain's chair. And of course, with the size,comfort, convenience, and economy of our Class B we are usually out touring every day from our campgrounds!

I have used mine to attend out of town re-unions, both high school and family. If we visit the kids out of town we take it to stay in, less hassle for them, plus every one needs a little private time. We have even used it to attend out of town funerals, shopping in a city a long distance from home etc.

Well.. If I'm going to drive the 8mpg RV instead of teh 25MPG Car I got to have a reason.. Fun works.

Example.. If I am taking a bunch of kids sledding,, The RV kitchen makes great Hot Chocolate

If I get to the parade route early I have a really nice elevated DECK to watch from.

And that is just two examples of cases where it can be FUN to drive the house to the event instead of a cramped car.

Have yet to do those with this class A (Kids sledding.. Kid is 33 about to become a mother). but... Back when I had a van (Semi converted) I did use it in the manner specified here.. Very nice to do,, Most of the comforts of home.

We do. All the time in fact. Our favorite coach is so easy to drive and we can park it almost anyplace that has decent parking.
So, Why Not?

It lives behind our hose and most of the decent weather part of the year it is provisioned and set to go, so we do.

What a great way to watch fireworks. We watch through the giant windshield while sitting in the comfortable seats and then play cards until the crowd clears and then we fire up to go home - if we care to.

I use mine as a Anti-DWI device. At my body weight and with the .08 law I feel nervous driving anywhere after as little as 2 beers. I feel I can do it safely but, maybe not legally. So, when friends invite me over to watch a race, grill out, or anything else where I know there going to invite me to have a beer, I tow the Travel Trailer. I ask to stay in their yard or somewhere else nearby and then walk to the event. My TT is so easy to hook up and tow. I get 14 MPG driving in my pickup empty and 11-12 pulling the TT. Might as well pull it. Cheaper then a DWI.

I also take it to concerts and other events for mostly the same reason. And, it gives me that ability to pop in it and take a break when needed. Fridge is always on with food and cold water / pop in it on a hot day if I need a break.

This is one thing I'm planning for my next rig -- my TT is nice, but there is something about having a motorhome small enough for use as a secondary driver. When I rented a "B" a couple years ago, I found a few nice uses for it, other than the typical motorhome function:

1: A place to stash groceries and keep stuff cold.
2: It made long trips bearable because I could just pull over into a parking lot, buy something, get an hour or two of shut-eye, get back on the road.
3: Get to a festival in a small town in the wee hours of the morning, find a nice place to park, go back to bed, then wake up, shower, get dressed, and be ready to go.
4: Save cash eating out. I dislike eating at fast food places, so being able to park, toss something in the microwave, eat, and get back on the road is a blessing.
5: Take to work, if possible. After work, hop in, vacation starts.
6: After seeing the doctor, getting a shot, it is great to have just to lie down to ensure no acute reactions.
7: As mentioned above, an anti-DWI vehicle.

we use our Shadow Cruiser pop-up truck camper as a warm place to wait for the Christmas parade with porta-pot during and for Black Friday sales.
