Just had a funny thought

Getting ready to buy our first fifth wheel. Just had a funny thought. Don't know why. If you had to crawl into the basement storage or a kid was playing in there and the doors accidentally shut, are there releases on the inside? Just spent 2 days at the Hershey show looking at every fifth wheel and never thought to check.
  • Well the doors that require a twist of the latch shouldn`t be a problem. but the latches that self latch would be an issue for young kids. adults should be able to release the latch from the inside. or make an escape door/laundry chute into the bay.

My fifth wheel has a dirty laundry drop from the bedroom area into the basement area...

I have heard some folks have sent small children up thru this passage to unlock their front door for them when they have misplaced their key...

  • Don't know what made me think of that. But I was sitting here with my GF when I did. Hmmmm.....I don't know where she is. Haven't seen her in days officer. :E
  • I suppose an adult could easily kick a door open but not a child. Something to think about. Odds are a million to one that a child will be accidently caught in a bay but I'd hate to be the million'ed situation.
  • Yeah. Now rethinking my subject title "funny" thought. Maybe not so funny.
  • That's actually a good question.
Our Southwind does not have inside releases on the compartment doors.
