Hi Bob!
You asked in a PM what a LAB test was. I PMed you but thought I would post here also in case anyone else was wondering what a LAB test was.
A LAB check is for your air brakes.
L= leek check, start the engine and build air pressure to the cut off point (120-140lbs), release parking brake, shut off engine, push and hold the regular service brakes for 1 minute while checking your air gauge to see if the air pressure drops more than 3 pounds.
A= Alarm, without starting the engine turn the key to run, "fan" the service brakes by rapidly applying and releasing the foot petal, your low air warning devices (buzzer, light) should activate before air pressure drops below 60 psi.
B= Button, continue to fan off the air pressure, at approximately 40 psi the parking brake valve should close (pop out).
Finally pull forward at 5mph, apply the service brake and stop. Check to see that the vehicle does not pull to either side and that it stops when the brake is applied.
These instructions are from my WI commercial drivers manual.
