I live just a few miles north of Moore. I cannot even begin to describe the devastation here. I was born and raised here and it is just unbelievable. It hit a heavily populated area and just wiped it out. My husband is active duty Coast Guard and one Coast Guard member had their house heavily damaged. To top it off, she is pregnant. There are so many huge things and little things that you just don't think of until it happens to you.
But what makes me proud, is the Oklahoma Standard. You cannot believe the things that people are donating. One store donated 1,000 pair of shoes, CVS is helping people get their prescriptions, people who have cancer and need treatment are getting help. Pizza Hut is walking down the street giving people pizzas, churches all over town are providing food and shelter. Animals, pets, horses etc are being treated at triage units.
I could go on and on but you get the picture. Oklahoma needs a lot of help and will for a long time to come.
Right now, please avoid I-35 through OKC. It is just a parking lot and emergency vehicles still need to get in and out as rescues are still taking place.
Thank you for all of your prayers. We feel them!
