So poor folks are getting back more in a tax refund than they pay...
I do not know, nor have I heard a reliable example of, a single person who gets a TAX REFUND that is greater than what they have paid in taxes throughout the year.
As for those condemning people for getting $1000-2000 back because "you're letting the government use it for free", who cares?
I could put $166.67 per month away in savings and after a year have $2006.93 to spend on that generator. Or I could pay that in taxes each month, get $2000.00 back to spend on the generator, and let the government have that $6.89 interest. We're not talking about a longterm investment here - we're talking about holding onto the money for no more than 12 months before it's spent.
Personally, I don't begrudge the government for everything. Sure I could buy a burger with that $6.89, but it's not going to make a difference in my lifestyle.
