Just wondering

I'm not trying to start trouble, I did see a post about the mod being a dictator but wasn't able to read anything in it as all posts were deleted.

However,I'm sure there were topics that I had wondered about the last few weeks myself. Perhaps this has been covered already so forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse.

I really enjoy this forum and appreciate everything that goes into keeping it running.I visit here daily. I certainly wouldn't call the mods dictators and that is way out of line IMHO ( which is I assume why it was closed). But lately I have noticed more and more posts being deleted from threads, threads being closed that had no arguments whatsoever, yet other threads that should have been closed days ago keep on rolling along.

What is the criteria for a successful post anymore? Tolerance just seems to be all over the place when it comes to posting anymore. Is it just me?

    Yes...

    Word to the wise:

Beginning any thread with words referring to the Mods as "dictators"- no matter how innocently put- is unlikely to endear you to them

Reread the thread, and understanding before commenting will also help. The OP was not calling anyone a dictator. He/she was referring to another thread where that took place.

Camouflage...no need to use the word at all unless the meaning is intended.

Francesca, I would respectively ask that you not put words into my mouth or insinuate I was trying to say something I wasn't. You are are reading way to much into this as that is not my intentions.

So to reiterate what you said " word to the wise" which I know you are, please stop playing games with my words.
  • Sometimes we're grumpy sometimes we're tolerant.
    Same thing goes for moderating.

I know this after moderating on a car forum.
The forum was friendly at first, as time passed and postings got off track then it was always a mods fault for doing something or not doing something.

My inbox was always full everyday with that deal...lesson learned there :(

Logging on as a mod is always a challenge especially if new or not experienced.
  • I have never been a moderator but I am supposing that they each receive an extensive list of rules and policies.

I think it would be a difficult job. And I appreciate all of the work they put into keeping this forum fun and active.

We can all do without the flames!

That particular thread was about a moderator in the "Around the Campfire" thread which most of us do not even read regularly.

the mods do their jobs as they see fit. why question it? honestly. I mean that. they will do what they feel is right and the threads that do disappear etc. usually are not the most informatative about rving, parts, maintenance or anything else remotely giving any valuable info. it usually is the junk threads that are taken care of by the mods fast. which makes sense.

I do understand attitudes and rules of conduct can change, just seeking some guidance as this seems to be taking place more often. It gets frustrating trying to figure it out. Some threads that were great get locked. Those that should get lock where others are more or less threatened with violence go on for days.

Anyway, just a observation if it's worth anything.

  • Not just you. Sometimes a thread gets deleted before it becomes inflammatory. Sometimes they let them slide if they aren't too personal or if the message is getting across. And sometimes I just don't understand it either.
