You "might" get away with that and be "lucky" once.. However depending on where you are and how many "friends" the perp has hanging around nearby packing heat, you just might find yourself waking up dead and they take not only the gen, but your life, your ride and heck your wallet..
Not ALL thieves run around by themselves, some are smart enough to have a few "helpers" in the background..
"stuff" CAN BE REPLACED, your life, not so much.. If you value your life, you best not try pulling the heat card unless it means they are actively threatening your life..
The best defense is keeping your "stuff" out of sight.. Basically hiding the gen under a bed topper will go a long way to prevent the causal thief from bothering..
