Also know exactly who the kid was as he called me over the winter to ask me to remove my phone block:R.
Did you say "OK, bring it over, I have to use my fingerprint"?
On an unrelated note, I have a carry permit, but would not have used the gun for that. Now if he had a tire iron.....
Ha! Close to it. Told him he could claim the reward by delivering the phone but ahem he declined. The clincher was when he mentioned my nephew by name at which point I knew who he was.
2 brothers latched onto my nephew last year and kept asking about the value of my folding bike that nephew was using. Certainly set off my "Spidey sense". One of them borrowed the bike from nephew and after much wrangling and "Where are your parents?" queries returned it with a broken wheel hub and the brakes misaligned. Never could find the parents/guardians of the 2 brothers which said much right there.
Let nephew chalk it up to a "how much you should trust anyone" lesson and left it at that. And thennn my phone went missing - uh huh.
Called the constable and state trooper unit for the area the phone he called from was registered to but was told there were too many transients in the area to pin it down. Didn't want the kid(s) to face criminal charges...just wanted someone to set him/them on the right path for life. Yeah well whatever; don't try and your life can be filled with doubts about not doing your personal best.
