That's if you are not working. Working and earning a living complicates things, but still, even California has a large population of guest workers.
That's another thing i'm dealing with. I am working, and of course have to pay CA income tax. But I never do work IN California. My clients are all remote, and I fly out to meet them, or log into their systems remotely.
My employer is headquartered in yet a different state, but has offices in all 3 states.
