I currently live in Washington and will be registering my vehicle in WA.
I will then move to California at some point, but want to keep my RV registered in WA.
I am not doing this to avoid taxes (sales, income) or anything like that - I simply want to store my RV in WA and keep it registered up there, and I plan on being up there a significant amount of time living in it.
Of course with moving to California I will have a CA drivers license.
Are there any issues with this? Does anybody have a vehicle registered in a different state than where they live?
I doubt that this will work especially if you are talking a MH vs a trailer..
If it is a trailer then you might be able to squeak by provided your state does not have any mandatory state inspection program (which in my state requires you to provide the trailer registration which has my mailing address AND my vehicles PROOF OF INSURANCE CARD which also has my mailing address)..
Now a MH that would be a whole nother ball of yarn to deal with, not sure if either state has an annual safety inspection like mine does..
My state REQUIRES you to provide the vehicles registration AND the insurance card..
Do you see a pattern?
Most states will require you to surrender your other states drivers license when you move to a new state.. That in turn will require you to change registration of ALL your vehicles to the new state..
Why not just register your RV with CA and store it in WA?
Even if CA requires and annual inspection you can just bring it back to CA and get the inspection done and take it back on your next trip to WA.. That would greatly simplify your life and remove any doubt on how legal you are..
