Our country is so mobile, folks travel everywhere and are from everywhere. License everything and insure everything wherever you are registered to vote. If in state and pulled over by authorities, no problem. If pulled over in the other state, as long as everything and all addresses match, the odds of being asked if you are a resident of THAT state are probably nill! Law enforcement may ask you what you are doing in that state, but the odds of even that happening are pretty slim, unless they suspect you of running drugs or something. In which case, you tell them you are working, living between the 2 states, but your residence is the other. If you lived on a border between 2 states, and lots and lots of people do, they live in one state and work in another, drive back and forth. It's not uncommon at all. You're driving back and forth between the 2. No one will ping you on that (well ... California is weird though), but really, residing between 2 states is not uncommon at all. Just make sure everything matches in one state or the other and not mixed and you'll be fine.
