- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIJust for information the Keurig pods are available in Sumatran or Kenyan bean plus many other high quality coffees.
This post shouldn't be a 'how to' ramble. Good coffee can be had in many ways and if you're satisfied with your way, that's great.

The more I read about the ongoing Keurig fad, the more I'm convinced that people don't truly have a desire to drink good, high quality coffee. People just don't know what they're missing...
Depends on the coffee you buy for the Kuerig. I grind my own and use the refillable cups. I find the coffee much better than a typical drip maker. That said, the best way is a french press but not nearly as convenient. - WTP-GCExplorer

Folks mention the high cost of a cup of Keurig coffee but don't flinch when drinking their beer, wine, liquor, smoking and even a cup of coffee in a restaurant.
We all have vices and pay for them in some way. :)
I have no qualms with the high cost of the K-cups. If folks want to pay it, then so be it. But for me, I'd at least like to know that I'm getting a good tasting, high quality product for that much money...which is something that Keurig has yet to be able to provide.
Don't get the impression that we're a bunch of hippie tree-huggers...but...we choose FRESH roasted organic beans, and our preference is a Sumatran or Kenyan bean. We grind it daily (usually that's me at about 5:30 AM) and normally only make enough for that day's coffee. We use the Technivorm coffee maker, which I linked too earlier in this thread. There is actually a science behind making coffee, and several factors that make the difference between "great" and "good". There are very few coffee makers on the market that are capable of making "great" coffee. Nothing I've ever had from a Keurig machine (either the high end models or the cheap ones) is hardly worth being called "coffee".
Now that we're WAAAAYYYY off topic, I could launch into a rant about our so-called "disposable culture", but I like using paper plates when I'm camping so I won't self-judge. - bid_timeNomad II

I fail to grasp this statement's application. at home I can have a 20 cent or whatever cup of coffee or a 1.00 cup of coffee. I always only order ice water at any restaurant as I find it foolish to pay the restaurant prices and I understand that a lot of the restaurants profit is via these add ons. one local chinese restaurant charged $1.50 for tea and gave me a tea bag and a cup of hot water. my bad, I "assumed" that tea came with the meal like at 99.9% of the chinese restaurants I have been at.

I couldn't agree more. I opened a bottle of Glenfiddich 21 last week and this thread prompted me to go back and do a little math. By my calculations, that's about $0.25 per milliliter for the single malt. A little more math for the conversion and I come up with $7.40 per ounce. K-cups suddenly seem less expensive and for some odd reason, I'm now thirsty. Must be all that math... - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIFolks mention the high cost of a cup of Keurig coffee but don't flinch when drinking their beer, wine, liquor, smoking and even a cup of coffee in a restaurant.

- georgelesleyExplorerWe get the best of both worlds by using the Hamilton Beach flex brew. We use it in the morning for making a 1/2 pot and pour it into a thermos immediately to avoid it tasting like sludge in a few minutes. That lasts the AM. If we want a single cup later or company shows up and wants anything, the single Keurig part of it does the job.
You can get them at Wally world for about 80 bucks.
