Some soy based wiring insulation is apparently tasty to rodents. My previous truck was hit 4 times to the tune of about $400 each time. Wiring and vacuum hoses chewed thru. Nest built in engine compartment. Even the copper part of the wires was gone. Moth balls, fox urine, etc had no effect. Found Critter Ridder at Home Depot, sprayed all the wiring every month or two, and never another problem. Apparently that truck model had that wiring as they never bothered my wife's or my daughter's vehicles. And have never bothered my new truck. All parked in same area.
