We just had our last weekend camping at Abol Bridge campground just twenty miles west of Millinocket, Maine. The foliage was beautiful. Deer and moose were seen browsing the river bank alongside our camp site. A pair of bald eagles was fishing along the river. The view of Mt. Katahdin was spectacular out our front window. We hiked into the ice caves, relaxed in front of the camp fire, watched the clear skies and stars at night, certainly enjoyed the complete silence at night, and always had the mountain towering over us. It was an amazing way to end the camping season. Sad on one hand because the end was here, but enticing on the other hand because we were making future plans to return next year.
