Laundry room ethics

When using the CG laundry room when is it acceptable to remove someone's laundry from a washer or drier to place your own in there. (20, 30, 40min)

It's the normal thing to do at non-RV laundry mats, too. I always thought that was half the reason they provide those giant rolling carts.

What I don't like is when someone drops my laundry on the floor!
  • I check the timer on the machine and set my watch 5 mins before, when the alarm goes off on my watch I'm there a minute or two before the machine is finished. I hate people who wash thee clothes and leave it there for the day while they are out at the beach!!! I take there clothes and put it aside.
  • Maybe 10 minutes max. I try to be courteous but not too long. I'm not offended if someone removes my stuff but I always try to be there when it stops.
  • "It's Laundry" Yep, nothing more, so if some one isn't willing to wait until theirs is done, then within a couple of minutes if no one empties the washer or dryer, it's fair game for the next person. There is absolutely no way to know when they will return. :) It's selfish to expect others to wait until you get back. Just our opinion. :)
  • When the machine shuts off......

Rude. Cut people some slack-they could be on their way or something could have delayed them. That's like sitting down at a restaurant table before the other party finishes getting up.

5-10 minutes, then move it. Being a little courteous won't hurt you and may make a situation less confrontational. There's so much talk on here about lack of common sense, respect, etc., yet taking someone's laundry out immediately is being very pushy. Yes, common sense dictates you should probably wait for your laundry rather than leave, but common sense also dictates that not everything in life goes as planned. Lighten up. It's LAUNDRY.

    This.

  • I would say that after 10 minutes is acceptable. I have put other peoples clothes into a laundry basket so it is all contained for them when they return. I have had this happen to me when I went and did something else and didn't hang around waiting for my clothes to finish washing or drying. It didn't bother me at all and I feel that procedure is acceptable. Otherwise, I should be there when my machine finished running.

On edit, 10 minutes is reasonable.
  • Are the clothes dry and is no one around for 15 minutes or longer? I would say yes.

If you really want to be nice you could fold them. :)
