Sounds like you are handling the situation appropriately. Not everyone enjoys the "perfect life". If the kids are well behaved and appear well cared for, leave it alone.
If it makes you feel better, strike up a casual conversation with the mom and see how things go. If nothing else it may make you feel better about the whole situation. It won't take long for you to get a good feel for what's going on.
