left my hood up...

Ok, I'm new to this world so I think I am missing some important etiquette. On the maiden voyage, first time in a campground I got set up and went about my duties. At one point I checked the oil in my truck and got distracted and forgot to close it. As night fell I had 2 visitors stop by and offer.... services and party favors. I was far from insulted but later heard that the hood up on my truck was a calling card for such activities. Is this true? What other "signs" will cause visitors of various purpose to show up?

  • The hood up thing only works for "services and party favors" if you have some greenbacks taped to it.

On second thought, that probably won't work either, they'll swipe the $$ and run.....
  • " offer.... services and party favors" Um .... This must be specific to the campground you visited ...I've never heard of this before. However, I don't think I've ever left the hood of my truck up either? You might have just stumbled into a "Gold Mine", or a "Coal Mine"...
  • Hood up on vehicle (normally on side of road) is a call for 'HELP'
Whether it is a 'universal' message I don't know but IF I see a hood up on a vehicle then I will probably be one of those that stop by.

    Flashers on..........pay attention or HELP

Standing next to your vehicle with your head down will get me to stop also.....hate seeing a grown man cry :B
  • No it's not true. It's a sign you may be having trouble, or, heaven forbid, working on your vehicle.
  • Ok, I'll admit I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.I've not heard of anything of the sort. Have to wonder where you're camping? Welcome, and happy trails!
