I see tons of younger groups camping (at least where I camp toward the beach areas). They must have the time and bucks from what I see.
Most times it isn't how much money you make---it is all about how you spend what you have :)
I don't work. Got married and quit. Home paid for. Camper almost paid for. truck paid off. my SUV is paid off. My new horse is paid off along with new saddle/supplies all paid off, hubbys ATV paid off. We lack for nothing and we are a far cry from 'rich'--it is one reason---we handle our money exactly how we want to live and prepare for purchases and what we want out of life.
Mishandled bucks, no matter how small most times means you live rougher than needed. (of course if medical expenses etc take hold, those are different situations) but it is how one handles their finances mostly.
I have a garden. No $ spent in the produce section at my store. I harvest/preserve for winter.
I control all my electric costs with power strips etc. I don't pay more than I ever have too along with CFL lights everywhere. I cut my power bill alot.
Cancelled garbage pickup for about $320 a year and now drive 1 time per week to the dump. no biggie.
Are people frugal enough? I sure am :)
