IMHO every opinion in this thread has great merit. Somewhere in this dialogue is the source reason for the way things are today with young families. I personally believe it is absolutely necessary for both parents to work today to sustain an average family. Watch the price index, it is way above the wage index, there in lies most of the reason younger folks cannot buy camping rigs, or if they do they take on a boat load of debt. Servicing a debt load in addition to the increased cost of camping makes it a poor choice of hobbies.
I know my own kids have no interest in camping. They were brought up on it, but they married people that were not and have no interest in working vacations.
