Years ago (1984 as I recall) there was a man who had a custom bicycle built and road it cross country, Back then Blogging was not yet the thing to do but he basically Blogged about it every day.. Now, I'm privledged to know how he did it but he wrote a series of articles that appeared in many magazines and news letters, Including AYH (American Youth Hostel) Bicycling magazines, Travel magazines and the magazine put out by H&R Block's Compuserve Information Service (Which is how come I know how he did it) he carried multiple computers and would upload his work to CIS to a private file both he and his secretary had access to.. She'd do the spell check, and H and J and send it on to the magazines for publication.
Some of those publications may still be in Libraries, likely on Microfich. So go fishing in your library's fich pond.
After that trip, he built an even bigger and better bicycle and went tour. That one was like 500 pounds, had built in computers (instead of saddle bagged) pulled a trailer, had solar power, and an automatic jack stand system GPS tracing and alarms. He'd ride that one into campgrounds and such and give lectures/shows and talk about his travels.
Wish I could recall his name.. Scott or Steve or some such.
