  • It's no rumor. This is nothing new. Licencing requirements are a states rights issue. You need to check with the motor vehicle administration for your state. The majority of states do require that you obtain a non-CDL Class B (or equivilant) licence for vehicles over 26,001 pounds. In addition, if your rig has air brakes, you will probably need to get an air brake endorsement.

If I were you, I would go online, or visit the Texas MVA , and check requirements. That's the only way you will get the correct answer.
  • Just Googled your question and it seems you will need a non-commercial class B license to drive a MH over 26K.
  • As I was told by the TDOT rec vec Are not required to have other than regular license. Do I agree no but I cannot change the law. I tried to get one but was denied. Go Figure Larry
  • Possibility. I know you need a class B if you drive any vehicle over 26,000 lbs. Don't know if that applies to commercial vehicles only or if it also includes private vehicles. I guess if you coach is designed to carry 16 people or more they could also make you get a passenger endorsement.
