My husband and I are not the handiest of people. We learn a lot from Youtube LOL! But, we've learned to do the basic RV maintenance stuff, but anything beyond that, we hire it out. Yes, it costs more, but for us, that's part of the cost of having one.
But, when you're out using your RV/camper and something breaks, you need to learn how to fix it, or at least rig it well enough to not cause further damage until you can get someone professional to look at it. The wait times at the dealer for repairs here are atrocious, so we recently found a mobile repair person to use when we can't get to the dealer. But again, all of that costs money.
Definitely don't get into RVing if you're on a tight budget and aren't inclined to fix things yourself.
