OP.....
Warranty work...best handled right after purchase and you have a 'hit' list form your PDI (pre-delivery inspection) and then return with a new punch list from your first trip (which should be in your driveway so ALL systems can be thoroughly inspected/run thru their paces)
After you have it for a while it is almost useless to try and get warranty work done IN A TIMELY MANNER. Dealer may have it for 2 weeks before even looking at problem.....then 1 week to get approval from factory...then 2 weeks for part to be shipped...1 week later find it is wrong part.......2 weeks more to get correct part then another 1 week to schedule work order. Tech spends 2 days and then figures out that he can't do the job --needs anther tech but he is on SUMMER Vacation etc etc etc
Extended Warranty.....
No one but MFG can offer a 'warranty' so in essence they are 'Service Contracts' will little paragraphs on what is covered, when they are covered and how they are covered. And a LONG paragraph/page of EXCLUSIONS
Waste of Monies and time. PASS
Put monies into an EMERGENCY FUND (contribute often and generously)
Mobile RV Repairs........
One of our better options
They usually are pretty good at doing repairs in a timely manner at reasonable costs
With prior approval from MFG they can handle some warranty work
CG Staff typically have a handle on which ones to CALL
Roadside Assistance.....
Good investment.......just like Insurance is
Coach Net is top of the class
Things you currently do around your house maintenance wise will be similar for RV....basically just a house on wheels
Otherwise ....farm out just like you currently do especially for Engine/Tranny etc on your vehicles
I do majority of repairs on my 5th wheel..fridge, water heater, A/C etc etc but do NONE on my truck
I do not have tooling for truck, the diagnostic equipment (I CAN find/read error codes so I know what is the issue), the desire to work on truck etc.
Truck goes to local shop that treats ME right, does the work correctly, stands behind their work and charges a FAIR price...all which makes me a happy customer.
