It's your rig and your friends so your decision... You must have had the hair stand up on the back of your neck or you would not have even posted here to raise the question. For me, I have great friends but for something like this I would take care of it myself and would not borrow the trailer if offered. I learned years ago not to borrow things like cars, boats, trailers... Because stuff does happen. I felt terrible when I borrowed a truck to do a simple haul job and the cargo shifted and put a big dent in the back of the cab.
A brother borrowed his brothers boat and had to borrow his truck to tow it. Boat hit a rock and sank. Transmission went out on truck on way home Sh-- Happ---
