We boondock plenty and can be in the middle of nowhere with no chance of getting anything over the air and still get our local Directv channels (using Slimline 5 dish) as long as we're within 250 miles from home making our spotbeam a bit bigger than our zipcode. DNS service is about the only way to guarantee receiving major network (NBC,CBS,ABC,FOX etc.) programming although it won't be local unless you happen to be from So Cal or New York.
