When you are parked or camped you can always lock your vehicle, since the key does not have to be in the ignition.
I don't have a CRV, but when I tow my vehicle it must remain unlocked or the alarm will go off.
Also if you have to disconnect the CRV in a hurry it is better to have an unlocked door. JMO
