Looking at buying a portable black tank - suggestions?

We are looking at buying a portable tank in order to be able to dump our tanks when staying at a site for more than 7 or 8 days without sewer hookup. Our black tank is 50 gallons and the largest one I see is 42 from Barker. I know some will say that we could use the facilities at the camp ground, but much prefer our own.
Thanks for any input.

  • Maybe it's my hangup but I don't use my blue tote for Black Tank contents because, IMHO, there is no way to clean it sufficiently to keep it from smelling up the area where it is stored.
  • for what its worth, when you realize you want a smaller tote and are only going dump often. be VERY diligent that you don't have more in the tank than the tote can hold. otherwise you're bound to have a crappy time
  • I have a 15 gallon, 120 lbs when full and I wouldn't want to handle anything larger.
  • What on earth are you eating that you can fill up a 50 gallon black tank in 7 days!?! :B
  • Only thing worse than a hugely heavy water container to move is one full of ****. You want to move and try to dump way over 300# of ****!
  • That 42 gallon tank when full is foing to weigh north of 350 pounds. How are you going to move it? Heck, a 20 gallon tank is a struggle over rough ground.
  • Those are big. Think about how many times you are going to use it. I'd suggest a smaller one and empty every few days.
