FYI - The 8500 GVWR is what I feel would be Max. Most likely it will be a smaller lighter trailer. An example would be the Forest River Vibe Extreme Lite 224RLS. It has a UVW of 4886 and a cargo capacity of 1833 for A GVWR of 6719. We are still very early in our search for a trailer and truck - I just want to make sure that I don't make a huge mistake that I regret for years.
Scott...where folks make a mistake is choosing the wrong 150/1500 package for the job and then make a silly comment a 1/2 ton can only tow a 6k-7k lb trailer. I'll use Ford F150 supercrew 2wd 163" wheelbase for example from fleet Fords specs.
1. F150 6900 gvwr 5.0 engine 3800 rawr maybe 1500 lbs in the bed
2. F150 7600 gvwr 5.0 engine 4550 rawr maybe 2k lbs in the bed
3. F150 7850 gvwr 5.0 engine 4800 rawr maybe 2400 lbs in the bed.
Same with GM.
Choose a small gvwr and 3800 lb rawr 5.3 engine and it struggles at 8k lbs.
Now if the owners had the 1500 with the NHT package he gets a 7600 gvwr 7300 rawr 3.73 gears with the 6.2 engine cracking out 420 hp and 460 lbs torque.
Ram 1500 ?? The Hemi is a strong engine but the chassis is Still stuck in the '90s era with small gvwr/rawr package.
You don't need a 3/4 ton truck unless you just want one.
I would drive 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton gazzer in all the brand and choose from them....I would get the white one.
