In SW Florida, between Disney and Tampa. A little trek to the beach, but it's probably the nicest State Park in FL. Maybe, the nicest SP in the SE of the USA. Book your reservation yesterday. They fill up fast.
Lake Loisa State Park
Don't tell anybody. It's really nice.
There's also a membership-based Thousand Trails CG near by. My parents are full timers and stay there often, but I wasn't impressed. Extremely crowded and packed in tight.

The beaches on the East coast are more "beach" like, but you get to watch sunsets on the West coast. Sanibel Island, off Fort Myers, is expensive, but I think it's billed as the Shelliest Beach in the World. I had a lot of fun there, skipping high school, chasing girls and drinking beer. That was a long time ago. YMMV. It sounds like you're a bit past those types of activities, but there are a lot of shells.
