Looking to purchase a dash camera any recommendations?

Well, I'm sure that the one I've been using is not a quality unit, but I've been using it in the Rv for more then 6 months with no problems. Purchased from ebay, and don't remember the exact vendor but it looks identical to the one in the link below:

The instructions are very limited, but not too hard to figure out. It takes good quality pictures. I wanted to capture what was in the front view of the rv in case of an accident, and it does this very well.

Check out the trucker stops and suppliers. Many more dash cameras are being used by OTR truckers in self-defense. Be advised the next time you cut off a big rig. Especially the full-time OTR rigs.

With the system I had in the big rig, I had a choice of lens and got the wide angle. Also, I liked mine mounted as close to the middle of the windshield (I had to work with a post in the middle of my windshield).
I had a different brand that is out of business.

I've read that dash cams are very popular in Russia.

I don't think it's a very difficult installation.
However, I don't know enough about them to make any comments.

Are you talking about a dash monitor with a rear and perhaps side cameras. Or are you really talking about a dash camera. I had a dash camera in my patrol unit but it was to record traffic stops and other front of the car interactions. I am not sure how you would use a dash camera in an rv.
