As a retired firefighter, the most dangerous calls we ran were ones on the highways because people just don't #$%$ pay attention while they are driving. We had to run extra fire trucks on a simple accident just to use as road blocks to protect all the first responders or course then the PD gets mad and tries to arrested us. Some days you just cant win..
Don't you know that there too busy texting while driving too pay attention to some emergency vehicle. :h My Highway Patrol Buddy told me about a time a few years ago that he responded too an accident involving a woman driving down I 70 just outside of Kansas City and she rear ended a semi in a construction zone. He was the first on the scene and she was up against the windshield. They found out that she was talking on the cell phone holding it up against her ear and putting makeup on and driving at the same time. OMG what some people do while driving. Well needless to say she isn't doing any of the above any longer.
