Love camping...eliminates cacklers!

Rant...It seems every time we stay at a hotel or lodge they put women who cackle and want to cackle half the night next door to us. DH sleeps right through it, but I'd like to drag the cackler through the keyhole of the door! The noise at campgrounds is never as bad as people next door in even very nice hotels and lodges. Bring on camping season!!:)
  • Camping doesn't elminate spit when it comes to noise. Snorters, cacklers, screamers, door slammers-heard them all-in campgrounds. We were at one campground where a guy's snoring kept half the cg up, including my hubby who could sleep through an atom bomb! I have found neither one is better nor worse than the other when it comes to noise. It all depends on where you are and who your neighbors are.

DH is asleep but since you are the gal, you want to join the fun, right? cackle right along with them :) :)

I know. Hotels to me are just annoying in general. I like my own things, not theirs and something a million others have touched, spit on, who knows what on, and all that mess!

but camping sure doesn't eliminate cacklers. they are everywhere :)
    unless you are boondocking.
  • OK if cackling is something chickens do and women cackle, then men must "crow". Do not care for staying in motels. Never know what has gone on in there or what is in there currently! Give me my own home on wheels. We do not care for loud-mouth people of any type in any location.
  • Funny story. Pre-camper days..we went on a group kayak overnight trip to an island. The couple in tent next to us both snored so loud all night we could not sleep. I finally got up around 4 a.m. and went down to the supply barge on the lake with my sleeping bag and laid on the wooden bench. Next morning, the couple came out and said "we didn't sleep a wink all night". We just looked at them and didn't say a word.

So when you go to a restaurant just pray some disgruntled worker hasn't spit in your food, your server washed his/her hands after going to the rest room, that nobody picked up the salt shaker after licking their hands and they wipe down their menus every once in a while. Or when you go shopping somebody cleaned the two-year-old's snoogies and drool off the carriage. Oh, just hope their diaper didn't leak, either. You buy a used trailer? Did you change the mattress and furniture? Lord knows what went on in their, too. Have teenagers that borrow your car or do you belong to a gym-well, I won't even go down those roads!

Hotels are like KOAs-easy to bash when you want to justify why you won't stay there. You want to think you're avoiding every existing germ and other unmentionable things by not hoteling, sure, believe it if you want to. My advice-give in to your paranoia and don't leave the house. Get it hermetically sealed, though, just in case.

Well they probably spent the whole night dodging falling trees that were getting sawn down.

Just got home from a trip to Florida. About two of and a half weeks of running around from hotel to rented house to an extra week on a cruise to hotel to hotel. Really I must have been lucky cause we really didn't hear anyone at all. Maybe we are the noisey ones. Lol.
