Have a friend that pulled his RV through the mountains to CA this past summer and said when he got up in the higher elevations his frig shut down due to LP not lighting. Read something in his owners manual about it doing this. Is this a common issue when driving through the mountains or is there a remedy or solution to keep frig going?

There should be a 8000 foot kit that needs to be installed if you are up above that altitude often. IF not then have to run on electric Chris

I don't know the answer. I did however tow my TT over the Rockies and Sangrias this summer. 600 miles and 14 days in high elevations and no LP or refrigerator issues.

I don't have a solution for you except I think it is unusual. Maybe your regulator. I go over 7500 ft elevation a lot and never a problem. I live at 5000 ft. I have a Dometic. I do notice my propane tank gauge changes a lot with altitude.

Might be something to do with his unit. I recently spent a month roaming around Colorado including several days at Rocky Mountain NP with no problems.

The LP system could have reduced output at higher elevation but shut down?Try to get hold of the manual and see what it says. Only thing I can think of would be the regulator. It is possible that the OPD valve is causing issues.What kind of rig does he have?

I live at 6200ft, never had a problem with propane. Works fine and have camped at over 10,500ft.

I have camped at 9,300 ft in Co and NEVER had a problem with my LP

Some are just touchy- Norcold has this to say about it
