My first trailer was a 1969 21' Layton and I towed it with my '69 Lincoln. Back then it worked fine with a 460 CID motor. A hitch dolly was advertised in the TL magazine at that time also. My TT only weighed 4400# empty. I think that '56 Mercury had about a 353 CID. I also lived in a 55' New Moon for a couple of years back in the early 60s.
