Funny you should mention this after 10 years. I guess I could consider this a public warning message on how my incident occurred this last summer after about 11 years of emptying tanks. Anyways, I have a Bayonet type fitting which I normally attach one of those clear 45 degree fittings which I sometimes have to turn sideways instead of going straight down.....I guess that turning of the fitting caused that sucker to turn itself off the bayonet lugs when I pulled the handle.
I got it shut off quick enough but I spent the next two hours shoveling up dirt into plastic bags and then watering down the whole area several times while using bleach to hopefully disinfect some. It must have worked because by now you have guessed I was in my campsite when this happened and I spent the next three weeks in that same spot without any indication(smell) of a spill.
