Yep. The ghost of happy camping reared its ugly head at me while dumping the black tank. I pulled the blade valve and while the family history was flowing into the sewer, the hose came off at the coupling and began spilling onto the ground. I quickly closed the valve but the damage was done. I moved the MH forward, got the hose and began flooding the waste into the recessed funnel in the concrete where the dump hose goes.The hose clamp just was not tight enough and it came off from the weight and force of the material. Now I'm looking to replace the coupling/hose with another type not of the same design. Perhaps a hose with the coupling all one piece. Any help would be appreciated.

I hope we never get the 10 year "surprise."At least you had the courtesy to clean up the mess...I watched it happen once and the guy just drove off. (with me yelling at him and him birding me).RhinoFlex is a really good sewer hose system.

Not rocket science here, Just do a good inspection on the hose clamps (tighten)now and then. Good thing the dump had a recessed drain. I've seen people dump openly in the basin area before with out putting the hose in the drain. So don't be to hard on yourself. :)

If you have the straight and smooth surface, where the hose is clamped on, then cut grooves into that surface so that the hose will have a bite. I did it on a lathe.Yes, I learned the hard way too!

Just when you think you're getting good huh. lolx2 on the Rhino Flex. Just be sure and use Rhino attachments that thread onto the hose. Others may not screw onto the hose.

Accidents happen, just glad you cleaned it up

If you had been "on the boards" longer you would be perfect also.

Valkyriebush and ryanallie1 were both previously employed by Morton Thiokol - and are eminently qualified .Senior Rocket Scientists - knowledgeable in effective launching of effluents!:S

BTW - how do you know they "sit in the tall weeds"?..:h

Why is it on this forum, more than any other forum I've ever been on there are people like Valkyriebush and ryanallie1 who sit in the tall weeds waiting for someone to admit to a mistake they made so they can pounce and tell them they aren't "rocket scientists" or they "don't think before doing." I've had this happen once in the 6 years I've had a trailer with a black tank. The hose had been chewed through by mice while stored in the bumper. Embarrassingly, it was with my parents waiting behind me in their RV, laughing their heads off.

Clamps fail. Good marine rule, double clamp everything. Use nothing but stainless clamps. Yes they are more expensive but in a non salty RV enviroment they should last the life of the unit.

I installed a Cadet PerfecToe in the bottom riser step going up into the bathroom/bedroom area. Ran a dedicated line to the breaker box. This along with an oil filled radiator style heater has kept us warm all winter. When it gets down to the teens, we will fire up the furnace or turn on the Wave 6 catalytic heater. This is our first winter up North and no problems staying warm in our 33' fiver.

we made over 15 years before we pulled a boner :) First trip in the new toyhauler.

thankully it was the 1/2 bath in the toyhauler and DD almost never used it.
very little mess. The valve was pulled to open when hubby took off the cap.
We have 4 handle pulls now. Galley, grey, 2 black tanks. On this maiden run he never thought to check if the handles were opened or closed from the dealer.

like others said, it happens :)
