You're right on the money.
If you compare a 5th wheel and pickup with a Class C, all vehicles perfect then there should be little difference in maintenance costs as long as both setups are maintained the same.
Keep in mind the problems with fifth wheels would be posted in the 5th wheel forum category and problems with a truck would be posted in a different forum category (tow vehicles or technical or general) You'd have to research both and then compare with the motorhome category posts for an apple to apple comparison.
